Mr. & Mrs. God

Mr. & Mrs. God created the universe together, then retired, having decided (after much debate) to give us free will.

She’s very upset about the current state of the world, and thinks they should shake things up a little. He thinks she’s overreacting, and that it’s just a phase we’re going through.

When they look in on some humans who are also having relationship issues, it gets even more complicated for Mr. & Mrs. God.

WORLD PREMIERE JUNE 29, 2024 – AVIGNON, FRANCE

Mr. and Mrs. God: A Divine Comedy About Human Disorders

“The curtain rises in the home of Mr. and Mrs. God, who deliberate on the fate of humanity. The interactions between Mr. and Mrs. God are both comical and deeply philosophical. Jeff Baron’s play poses a burning question: should we destroy everything and start again?

The answer, of course, is not so simple and depends on four humans. Through these characters, the play draws us into a whirlwind of intertwining stories, each reflecting the dilemmas and absurdities of the human condition. Their stories are moving and often hilarious, with each actor bringing depth and authenticity to their roles.

What makes “Mr. and Mrs. God” so captivating is its perfect balance of comedy and reflection. The play doesn’t just make you laugh; it pushes the viewer to question existential and moral issues. Moments of pure comedy are brilliantly counterbalanced by darker, more introspective passages, creating a rich and multi-dimensional theatrical experience.”
